LUNA™ Standard Beads
Calibrating beads used to standardize and verify the accuracy of LUNA brightfield automated cell counters — essential for quality control and reliable cell counting performance.
Overview
LUNA Standard Beads are a calibration reagent designed to ensure precise and reproducible brightfield cell-counting using the LUNA series of automated cell counters. The beads provide a known, consistent particle concentration and size distribution — allowing labs to calibrate the instrument and validate performance, especially after maintenance or before critical experiments.
Each vial contains a suspension of polystyrene beads (size 9-11 µm) in a dyed medium (Trypan Blue in a dark-blue liquid), at a concentration of about 1.0 × 10⁶ beads/mL (at dilution factor 2).
By counting the beads, the instrument’s optical detection, concentration reading, and viability/size gating can be tested — helping ensure accurate cell counts before running biological samples.
Because of their standardized properties, LUNA Standard Beads can also act as quality-control reference material for labs seeking reproducibility, audit readiness, or compliance with lab protocols.
